My inspiration for this sweater is one I saw at Target a few months ago. I am hoping that this will be a nice, light sweater, good for warding off the chill of AC, and the breezes of spring and fall. Probably useless against an OH winter, but Peanut doesn’t live in OH (sigh!).
Tubular cast on 77 (on smaller needles) for back…k1, p1 rib 5 rows, dec to 76 on row 1.
Stockinette (on larger needles) until back measures 15.75”.
Bind off 25 stitches on each shoulder, leaving 26 stitches live for back of neck.
For fronts, pick up 60 stitches at side with larger needles (3 stitches for every 4 rows) and cast on 32 stitches at sleeve, tacking one stitch at shoulder. Knit 3 rows stockinette stitch, then start lace, working four chevron lines. Work 2 rows stockinette, then 1x1 rib on smaller needles for 4 rows…tubular bind off.
For Sleeves, pick up 64 sts with larger needles (round 1), then knit for 28 rounds before decreasing two at “seam” every 7 rounds 4 times, then every 8 rounds 3 times. Final stitch count, after 80 rounds, will be 50. Change to smaller needles, decrease 2 sts at seam side, and 1x1 rib for 30 rounds, tubular bind off.
May 4 - Had to put this aside for a bit. I’ve finished the first front, but it’s not as drapey as I’d like. Stopped knitting to block it with a mist-bottle and see if smoothing the lace will help the drape…which it did (5/8). :) Back at it now (5/21), and hoping to finish for a June trip to see that darling girl! Of course, there are also Barbie clothes and other fun things to knit for that trip, too!
June 4 - started sleeves!
June 11 - Done! Photos soon!
