Sooo, the long and the short of it is that this is probably something that has been written into a pattern somewhere else. I was too lazy (?) to look for it, so I made the thing up as I went. The plain and simple explanation is as follows:
With two strands held together (one of each color), I cast on three and started knitting a basic, corner-to-corner garter-stitch dishcloth on size 8 needles, increasing one stitch every row. Then I spiced it up, alternating groups of 5 knits and 5 purls every other row, crating a diagonal pattern of alternating garter and stockinette stitches. I did that until I got bored, then I reversed the whole thing, in pattern, decreasing one stitch every row, until I was left with 6 stitches.
Then I made a head, with one strand of white only, on size 5 needles. I knit every pink stitch onto one needle, and purled every white stitch with another needls (there was one white and one pink loop in every stitch of the blanket part)…it’s hard to explain how I did that, but it was not hard to do. I knit in the round, increasing and decreasing to create a roundish head, and closing the top with a 3 needle bind off (kindof) to start to each bunny ear (I stuffed the head before I closed up the second ear.)
Finally, I created a little “collar” of garter stitch on 4 sts, and I stitched it around the bunny’s neck. If you guys look around and can’t find a pattern for something similar, I could probably be persuaded to write this up in more detail…I just get tired of re-inventing the wheel…on paper anyway!
