Flat trio, pets number 2 and 3!

There are ear and tail options for a bunny, bear and cat, but I’ve messed up the face on the first head, and it will be a dog. The second will be a cat, and these will go to some small friends at church when they are finished.

Dog Outer Ear
MC - cast on 11
Rows 1-3: st st 3 rows, starting with a purl row.
Row 4: inc 1 st at each end of row
Rows 5-7: repeat rows 1-3
Repeat rows 4-7 twice.
St st 6 rows more.
Row 22: Dec 1 st each end
Row 23: purl
Rows 24-25: repeat rows 22-23
Bind off.

Dog Inner Ear
CC - cast on 9
Rows 1-3: st st 3 rows, starting with a purl row.
Row 4: inc 1 st at each end of row
Rows 5-7: repeat rows 1-3
Repeat rows 4-7 twice.
St st 4 rows more.
Row 22: Dec 1 st each end
Row 23: purl
Rows 24-25: repeat rows 22-23
Bind off.

Sew outer and inner ear together, and stitch to head, as shown. Do not stuff.

Dog Tail
MC - Cast on 9
St st 9 rows
^Row 10: k2tog, knit to last 2 sts, ssk.
Row 11: purl
Repeat from ^ until 3 sts remain, cut yarn and draw through sts, sew seam and stuff lightly. Stitch to bum.

Modified Cat Tail
MC - Cast on 14.
St st 5 rows, starting with a purl row.
^Work 4 rows st st in CC.
Work 4 rows st st in MC
Rep from ^ twice.
In CC - k3, k2tog, k4, ssk, k3.
Purl.
k2, k2tog, k4, ssk, k2.
Purl, cut CC.
In MC - k2, k2tog, k2, ssk, k2.
Draw yarn through remaining sts and sew seam. Stuff lightly, or not at all, so the kiddos can make it curl up or around or whatever. Sew to center of bum on an MC stripe.
