Knitting all pieces in the round on DPNs, using worsted weight, and hoping they are the right size for my doll house. Of course, as I finished the body of doll 1, I notice he is taller than my 7” Kindle Fire…which would make him over 7-feet tall in the dollhouse! Still, I’m going to knit 2 to start, and they will be better than no family in the dollhouse.
Knitting pretty much as written, but leaving all nude, save for underthings (shorts on the boys, panties and undershirt/bra on the girls) in white. It will make the doll knitting less fiddle-y and more portable (only 2 colors). I will make clothes, either knit or sewn. :)
Mods, doll 1:
Knit in the round, 1 or 2 stitches less than stated, no seaming.
1 extra foot decrease.
Mods, doll 2:
Knit in the round, 1 or 2 stitches less than stated, no seaming.
On foot, do three rounds, then decrease twice on round 4, and decrease 3x on round 5…11 leg stitches. Make legs 2 rounds shorter.
Make torso 2 sts narrower and 2 rounds shorter, add some waist shaping.
Knit head 2 sts smaller, 2 rounds shorter.
Knit only 2 sets of increases, then 12 rounds over these 7sts before decreasing for hand.
Clothes for Doll 1 (Doll 2)
Pants - fingering weight, sz2 (US) ndls
Leg: Cast on 24 (20), 1x1 rib 2 rnds.
Knit plain 24 (21) rnds, break yarn.
Knit a second leg, and connect them, for a total of 48 (40) stitches, and knit 2 rounds. On round 3, start placket (if desired) with a p1, k2, p1 at the center front of pants. Continue working until there are 8 (4) rounds total.
Work decreases at the hips on round 9 (5), 4 total, leaving you with 44 (36) sts.
For Doll 2, work a second set of decreases on round 7, 32sts total.
1x1 rib 2 rounds, work 1-row tubular bind off.
I’ll do another project when I get around to “kid” dolls. :)
