very nice, well-constructed mitten.
TAKE CARE to choose smaller size than you think you do - garter stitch gives a lot!
Pattern is instructive, helpful, well-written. A good beginner’s project! a pattern sketch giving dimensions in inch/cm would be helpful.
Used up one 50 g skein of each color (33g pink, 47g grey)

Love the different stripes! if only there weren’t so many loose ends to weave in… sigh
these are companions for my new scarf Taygete
alas, my gauge differs a lot from the “official” one.
several resulting mods:
wrist-band: 15 stitches, over 40 ridges (plus cast-on/cast-off)

Thumb gusset: 45 stitches, straight for 10 ridges; thumb over 15 stitches (tight, but not too tight. could have been 17 stitches too), increases for 10 more ridges

Thumb:15 stitches

Palm&Back: knit-on 20 stitches, 2 straight, 6 inc, 9 straight, 6 dec, 2 straight repeat -

finished, to match Taygetes, with a picot-bindoff at wristband

fuling or slight felting might be useful
EDIT: felted mittens because they kept slipping from my hands. Now they fit very well, but the nice squishy texture, alas, is gone… :-(

knit in the round just to try it- possible but makes no sense with garter stitch…
November 11, 2011: finished!
Fit fine after washing and fuling.

January 2015 - lost one. Very sad. Will knit new ones!
