Overall, I enjoyed knitting this and the finished dress is beautiful, if a bit too large. However, I did encounter some troubles, detailed below.
Mods:
- Made the dress 1.5” longer than pattern calls for, mostly because I was worried about stretching over my bottom. This wasn’t necessary as the fabric has wonderful drape, but it will at least add extra warmth.
- 3-needle bind-off for shoulders instead of seaming.
- Knit in the round until arm shaping, then split and knit flat.
- Other mods to fix pattern errors, as detailed below.
Pattern
This pattern was tricky as there seem to be a lot of stitch count errors. Sometimes you can figure things out from the photos, but in this case, the model’s hair is blocking the view of the shoulders in all photos, which is where most of the counts are off.

The first wrong count appears in shape back neck. It says to work until 32 sts, eventually bind off 24 sts for neck, and end with 22 sts for each shoulder. However, 32 + 32 + 24 = 88 sts, but you only have 68 sts to work with at this point if you followed the pattern. So I shaved 10 sts off the initial count, and followed all of the decreases so I then I had 12 sts on each shoulder. I think this was a mistake, as 12 sts seems a tad too narrow with the finished dress, and the armholes are a lot bigger than I think they should be. It’s not terrible, but I do wish I had emailed the designer to ask for clarification here. I think there is probably too much shaping in the arm and maybe the second set of shaping doesn’t need to be there. You can see what I mean in the first and fourth photos especially.

The next issue is with the front. Pattern says to work as given for back until the double asterisks, then start shaping neck after 83 cm. My copy of the pattern does not have the asterisks anywhere. Plus, if you started shaping the front neck at 83 cm, it’d be the same as for the back, and the schematic shows that the front neck should be lower than the back. So here I used the photo to glean where the neck should scoop and just did it at that point.

The same shoulder stitch miscount is repeated for the front. I did the same thing I did for the back.
-
The sleeve cast-on count is also wrong. This was the only errata I actually found published anywhere (here). The correct number is 62, not 132.

In the Making Up section, it says to use size US 15 circular needles to pick up neck edging. This should be the same size 8 the rest of the pattern has used.
Yarn
Heavenly. So, so, so soft and amazing to work with. It has wonderful drape and a beautiful soft halo. There are some guard hairs, but I don’t find them to be itchy. Absolutely no bleeding of colors either, which I was mighty worried about as I forgot to pre-soak the darker ones. I’m not used to using white yarns, or to colorwork! Thankfully, I got really lucky with this yarn.
