I’m very grateful to the lovely folks at Purl Bee for writing this easy to read pattern and for making it available at no fee. Thank you.
My husband is wearing them and loves them! ;-)
MODS: Since so many project photos show the socks as huge, plus many project notes also claim how large they are, I cast on 52 stitches using a US size 2 1/2 needle.
{Since the thumbnail photos don’t show the complete sock, click on each photo to see complete image.}
If the socks end up not fitting then I’ll definitely donate them.
I do prefer knitting from the toe-up, though I’m enjoying knitting worsted wt socks.
Used this invisible cable cast on.
Knitting both socks at the same time but doing it on 2 separate needles because I’m not familiar with doing socks top-down and could run into a problem.
I can hardly wait to finish these and start a pair for my son as well. Making worsted weight socks has actually been fun and very gratifying.
YARN: Really like this yarn for men’s socks and will use again. Great stitch definition. Will surely use this yarn for other projects (mittens for sure).
PATTERN: I am so pleased with this pattern (plus the help I received from Purl Bee when asking about changing the math when turning the heel). This is an easy pattern and well written, clear to understand. I especially like the instructions for turning the heel. Even though my preference is knitting toe-up socks, this pattern is definitely one I’ll be using again in future. Definitely recommended.
