Notes

I just finished! I LOVE IT. I still need to weave in the ends and block it but I’m already wearing it - it’s beautiful.

  • MODS: After about 18-20 rows I didn’t care for the fabric so started over, knitting it with yarn held double (mad tosh + B/Folio) -- much better. I really like the fabric created by combining the two yarns.

I LOVE this Nae. It’s beautiful. This is my first full size shawl.

PATTERN: Very satisfying and knits up quickly (though I was only able to sit and knit in the evenings). Easy pattern, well written even for a beginner like me. The seed stitch really makes this a beauty.

YARN: I love both these yarns very much and combined they create a beautiful soft fabric that is warm and has a luxurious drape.

I am definitely planning to switch from English style knitting after this to Continental. Been watching videos and as soon as I finish this Nae, I plan to switch.

Future:
I will definitely make another. What a gorgeous gift it would make. About the only thing I’d do differently is rather than have the YO at the end of each increase row, I’d likely do a different increase to match the decrease on the other side of the shawl.
This pattern could easily be made with a slightly heavier weight yarn for those living in colder regions. But doing this one with yarn held double makes it just as warm.

UPDATE: I wear this a LOT. It’s so easy and comfortable to slip over the shoulders to take the chill off and I can still be busy with my hands, whether working in the kitchen, playing piano, or sitting and knitting.
And every time I wear it out, people always comment on it.

PS: Stitch markers. If you like my little shell stitch markers as much as I do, I bought them from “Lavenderhillknits” on Etsy. I’ve also ordered other ones from her and a cute project bag too.
