Per the “NOTE” in the pattern, I knit longer from the cast on edge, to accommodate for my niece’s long, thick hair. I can’t remember, but I think I knit 6 1/2” from beg. edge. I think it looks too full/slouchy. I’m holding my breath whether it will work for her. If not, I’ll knit another, only knitting the recommended 5 1/2” from edge.

Aside from my possibly knitting it too long, I really do like this pattern, which produces a very pretty beret.
