In my teens I crocheted this. Now I want to give it a new look. But do not know how yet……
Looking for some inspiration…..
At the IFFF (International Freeform Forum here at Revelry) we are doing a CKAL Everything old is new again…. From there came some tips, that I will try now.
I started with frogging the outer green edge (tip of Melba) and removing the closure.
I also started making some “granny birds” for the backside.
Having removed the outer green edge really helps, but still I am not satisfied. Although others say it is beautiful, I know I will not wear it, if I do not something to integrate the colors more…. So I try a method learned from the DVD In Stitches from Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn.
I use tiny scraps of yarn to imagine how it will look with stitching in a certain color. This way I find out that I like it most with orange, scarlet red and dark red and brown.
So I will do some embroidery…… Will be a lot of work.
For the backside I made 3 “granny birds” and I crocheted a lot of small circles.
Working at the front: Outlining 2 birds and making tails to them.
I decided to also lengthen the vest with some freeform.
I used the Flamboyant fringes pattern of Prudence Mapstone as inspiration for the fringes.
