Note: My first attempt at this afghan was with Red Heart Fiesta yarn in Soft White and Meadow. After completing 17 rows, I took a photo (bottom picture) and realized that the pattern didn’t show up at all with this yarn. So I ripped it all out and started over with the Caron Perfect Match yarn. Much better!
NOTE (12/4/16): I decided to re-do this and do the cables AND the arrows in the red. Since I don’t have enough of either yarn for a whole afghan, I have to make do with what I have (3 8-oz skeins of red and 5 8-oz skeins of green). I want a little more red in this afghan. Originally, I was going to do the Woven Stitch portion in red, but I think that will be too much, and I might not have enough yarn left to finish it. So I think this will work out OK. I’m going to attempt this new version today.

At this point, when I was ready to start the border, I looked back at the afghan and realized that I had done a few of the row 2’s as sc instead of slip stitch, starting with row 82! Probably no one would really notice but to me, it just stuck out like a sore thumb. I waited a few weeks before I decided whether to go on as is or rip out and re-do. So I ripped out 37 rows and re-did them, including the whole second Woven Stitch section!
It should also be noted that in December, I had to have my thyroid removed so I was out of commission for several days, and in January, my mother-in-law was in the hospital twice, and I had to stay with her for several nights, so lugging this afghan around was impossible. (I started a couple other baby afghans to work on while I stayed with her. Can’t let these hands be idle all that time!) This is why it’s taking me so long to finish.
So here’s my progress on the re-do:
2/7/17:
R82-87
2/8/17:
R88-112
2/9/17:
R113-188
Edging #1, R1-3
2/10/17:
Edging #1, R4-5
Edging #2, R1-5
DONE!! Just have to weave in a bunch of ends before photos.
