The first of Kimber’s gradient yarns to be released!

Mods: Plan to make shawl as a crescent shape with increases along cast on edge. Will see how it works.

Gradient: in striped portion of shawl will be using color 1with color 6 until used up. Then switching to color 2 with color 7. (Rinse, lather, repeat.) Leaf portion of shawl to be done in consecutive gradients (colors 11-15). I’ll be dropping in some life lines as I haven’t any notion on how much yarn should go where and I certainly want to use all (or almost) of Kimber’s beautiful colors.

Notes
Knit 2nd to last stitch of previous row w/ both colors when changing colors

dbl inc (start of row): like LLinc, but kfb in lifted bit since stitch to left of edging stitch is a YO (in row below)

dbl inc (end of row): YO after pattern then kf&b in 2nd to last stitch (1st of the pair of edge stitches)

single increases on return row: YO

Tab: 2+3+2 (color A)

switch to B: edge, k2, pattern, k1 edge

81 stitches ~= 72” of yarn (star pattern)

Magic knot join when switching yarn.

Introduced YO in between edge stitches on side where I’m not changing colors as those stitches were too tight. Then immediately drop the YO as I knit back. (Akin to Color Affection edge treatment.)

Did crochet bind off with Black Coffee (in Kashmir).
