Using stash wool that was gifted too me, its not the softest wool, but is hard wearing so should be great for this project that need not touch skin
Going to knit to dress length if I have enough wool (no labels on the darker colour so don’t know what yardage I have) and I just know the first thing Krystel will do when she tries it on is spin around in it.
For some reason this tunic dress reminds me of irish dancing costumes, perhaps assisted by the fact the first one I saw was knit in green
Also using this project for a first little dabble into crochet. Single crochet edging under the arm, scollop around the shoulders, possibly rope edging around the neck, and a crochet flower embellishment
Kitchener stitched the top of the shoulder join
Love the texture of the bodice, but wondering if there is a quicker way to get the same effect as that is a lot of (time consuming) cables!
Next time I do a provisional cast on for a project I’m going to try another technique (perhaps crochet chain?) as I did a knitted cast on and just took me over 2hrs to undo it/ put the stitches back live
3/10/14 - Finished last night, gosh that took longer than expected! I’ve been very slowly working through it, often half a row a day, in limited knitting time. Soooo many cables, especially in the bodice. Love the effect though. Did the skirt 3inches longer than pattern (and 4increase rows giving 18 stitches between each cable), and did hemline version3 (the widest hem also). Decided to go with a big bow embellishment rather than flower so that it can be reversible with bow worn at the front or back for a slightly different look. Just soaking ready to block now and will take pictures when dry. Love it
