Right off I think the pattern could be improved.
I started this as a store sample so I don’t want to make too many changes as other customers may want to knit this up and I want to be able to explain the actual original pattern. The finished garment looks very cute and I am happy with the yarn, but right away I wondered why this is not knitted in the round. If I made this again I would change it to knit in the round rather than knitting two identical pieces and then seaming them unless it effects the drape?
My next question was at the hem: If you knit four more rows after the purl ridge row on the RS you do not end up on a RS row, so you will need to st st a total of five rows before you flip up the hem.
Here is a part I would change: I would do a provisional cast on and then a three-needle joint. I think that would look neater. I did make a small change: Instead of picking up the stitches from the cast-on edge one by one as I go along, I inserted a smaller needle through the cast on stitches, double checked that I had 74 sts and then did a three needle joint (see picture).
Then, rather than saying to keep doing the decreases for the skirt until you are left with a certain number of stitches, why not do the math for the knitter. I had CO 74 sts for the smallest size and was to decrease until 46 sts were left. That means 74-46=28 sts decreased. At a rate of 4 sts decreased per decrease row, this means that I had to have a total of 7 decrease rows.
I did see the errata for the neck shaping posted :)
In the end, after all is said and done, I do like the pattern enough to recommend it.
The dress looks cute :)
