Made 3 striped squares and 3 with a dishcloth pattern.

To avoid sewing all the pieces together I changed the construction a bit.

  • First I made the 2 stripes: I added 5 black ridges on each of the 2 squares I wanted to connect and made a 3 needle bind off in the middle.
  • picked up (200sts) and knitted 5 ridges in the middle of the 2 stripes - 3 needle bind off
  • picked up and knitted 200 sts for 10 ridges on the long sides + stretchy bind off
  • picked up and knitted 150 sts on the short ends + stretchy bind off

Added an icord edge.
