I wanted a smaller size than the pattern - to fit a 13” calf so, as suggested in the pattern, I used a smaller hook and yarn.

I tried with DK and a 4.00 mm hook first. These were a little large for me but they work great with my daughter’s boots (she likes to tuck them in and fold them over). I will finish them this week.

Next, I tried some 4 ply sock yarn with a 3.50 mm hook. I work loosely so this is probably what most people would achieve with a 4.00 mm hook.

The result is great and the pattern is a lovely, relaxing, easy pattern to work - taking photos of yourself in boots and cuffs, not so easy!!!
