Due: September 11, 2016
My entry in Very Shannon’s SSKAL - August 1 - September 24 - Rav group
Yarn is wonderfully soft and easy to knit with.
My Knitters Pride 10mm wooden needle tips are perfect for this yarn: very smooth but not slippery and perfectly pointy. However, the slow going with the stitch trapping and the sheer size of the needles is proving a bit taxing on my arms, which are subject to achy-ness anyway. So I have to take frequent rests to this is taking me a bit longer than most of the other testers. Which is bugging me because I am loving this sweater so much that I want to hurry hurry hurry so I can wear it the second the weather turns chilly!!
Zipper purchased at Fabricland. It looks likes metal but is actually plastic and is quite flexible. It’s 22” in length, which is about an inch too short for the opening. However, I didn’t want to bother with the fuss of shortening a longer zipper. Besides, it’s practically impossible to do so neatly especially when the wrong side is visible so often.
Sept 11 - Zipper finally inserted, pocket linings sewn in using mattress stitch and whip stitch.
Sep 9 - Collar complete - so generously sized and cushy!! Front opening finished by working crochet chain stitch (using 6 mm hook).
Sep 7 - Sleeve #2 finished!
Sep 2 - finally got my 9 mm needle tips and was able to work the ribbing on sleeve #1 (after working one more row of MC to avoid distorting CC stitches in last row of Chart E) - perfect length! Starting ribbing on lower edge.
Aug 28 - oops, don’t actually have 9mm needle tips for the ribbing so have started on sleeve #1 until I can get to my LYS.
Aug 27 - Finished Chart E - up next: ribbed lower edge
Aug 24 - Pocket charts complete.
Aug 22 - Chart A complete (ugh, photo looks very dull - looked better on my phone.) Next up is the pocket chart.
Aug 19 - separated sleeves from body. Once again my Clover circular stitch holders save the day!!
