Slip first stitch of each row to make seaming easier and less stretchy on the sides.
3-29-09 update…got fabric for lining from Dulcie, Maureen’s mom. This purse is going to have meaning.
10-20-09 update…Sc’d down the 2 sides instead of seaming, and it went way faster. Made up for the 2 hours it took me to seam that fabric with the glued-on sparklies in the sewing machine. Still can’t believe it - 2 hours to sew up 2 little 6-8 in side seams.
10-22-09 update…Decided on a back loop sc handle instead of the super-stretchy garter st one. I ch’e 140 with an F hook, and then sc’d into the bump part of the ch with an E hook. All the way down, then on the next 3 rows I sc’d in the back loop. After row 4, I sc’d across the end, and then into the back loop of the starting ch, and will do a total of 4 rows on this side as well. Undecided yet on how to attach strap to the purse, sc or sewing.
11-20-09 update - Already seamed up one side of the handle, then it languished for a month. Today I remembered it, and sewed up the other side of the handle, and sewed on half the lining. One half to do and this baby’ll be done! Hopefully I can finish it off tomorrow and get it in the mail to her next week.
Sept 2010 update - Gave it to her this past weekend when we were all down in FL for the memorial. She cried.
