This ruana tops my list of most useful handknits - among it’s many sterling qualities:

1. WBSB = World’s Best Stash Buster
My Graceful happens to have three generations of “It’s so lovely, I can’t bear to throw it away, even if there’s not enough to really make something” yarn that had lived for decades in boxes under beds.

2. TNMBFF = The Nursing Mother’s Best Friend Forever The ruana construction, a rectangle halfway split along the center line of the length, makes it an ideal bit of raiment for creating a little tent of privacy.

3. CBS = Car Blanket Supreme
For dogs or kids to share, it’s best to make it up in washable wool. Again, the split rectangle construction makes it ideal to share in the back seat or in the over-cooled movie theater.

4. SGFDG = Saving Grace(ful) for Dancing Girls
If your child is in marching band, ALWAYS take this item to any football game, and you will be “That Mom,” in a good way. Fold it up to sit on bleachers in cushiony comfort, wrap it around a group of dancing girls for warmth before competitions, or use it to craft a makeshift dressing room. Just make sure you get it back before you leave … just saying.
