Cast on 43 stitches
Knit for 5 rows - garter stitch border.
Row 6 - K5, P3, K3, P3, K5
Row 7 - K5, K3, P3, K3, K5
Row 8 - K5, P3, K3, P3, K5
Row 9 - K5, P3, K3, P3, K5
Row 10 - K5, K3, P3, K3, K5
Row 11 - K5, P3, K3, P3, K5

Repeat these 6 rows until the piece is almost a square (remember you will add 5 knitted rows for the garter stitch border).

K5 rows for the garter stitch border.
Cast off.
