So, I got this yarn and immediately loved it. Wanted it on my needles. But I wanted to focus on the SSK KALs. It was the end of May, not yet June. So I couldn’t start another project for the KAL.
I decided to cast on some plain vanilla socks.
The yarn was perfect as it came balled up. We were seeing folks the Sunday of Memorial Day. And I didn’t have time to put anything together.
Was planning on just knitting my standard Wendy Johnson Gusseted Toe-Up sock. Nothing fancy. But I overshot the point when I would add the gusset. So I could either rip back or figure out how to do an afterthought heel. With the stripping, it made sense to give it a shot.
Carin from Round the Twist loves the Crystal afterthought heel. I figured that would probably be the best one since it is supposed to have a bit of extra depth to it. I figure it is worth a try. Though I may also look at the Sock Architecture book instead.
These aren’t taking long. But they were put aside for all of June & a good portion of July while I tried to crack out a couple items for the final SSK KAL.
I knit on these during SSK a whole lot. It was nice as I hope people liked the yarn & hit The First Draft hard! grin Lindey rocks!

Finished the cuff in the Nashville airport on the way home from SSK. Really love the simplicity of them. Needed to wait until I can sit down & focus before I attempt a true afterthought heel for the first time. gulp
