Gauge:

• 32 sts x 44 rnds = 4” in stockinette
• 40 sts x 44 rnds = 4” in rib (6” leg circumference, 6.5” foot circumference)

Bruce picked out this yarn himself when I dragged him into a yarn shop whilst on a weekend getaway.

These socks were supposed to be finished for Christmas 2016 but weren’t. Then Bruce got deployed in January 2017, so there wasn’t much of a rush to get them done. So they became Birthday 2017 socks instead.

I had Bruce try on the socks I made for my dad to see how they fit. He liked the leg length of 7” and the foot length of 10.25” looked like it fit well. The 8.5” circumference was too large for Bruce’s 9” circumference foot and ankle. So I decided to make the 7.5” size (Women’s M) but knit the foot longer.

I used a long tail cast on. I used size 2 (2.75mm) needles for the cast on and to knit the first round so the cast on edge wouldn’t be too tight. Then I switched to size 1 (2.25mm) needles for the rest of the sock.

These socks are so soft. The dye runs quite a bit when washed (hand washed in Euculan and dried flat).
