The hand length was too short for 5-year-old Tucker.

My stitch gauge was smaller than the pattern’s and my row gauge was larger than the pattern’s so I made a few changes.

I used duplicate stitch for the first three chart rows and started knitting the chart on row 4 on the first row after finishing the thumb increases.

I worked the thumb in the round instead of flat.

-Cast on 26 sts
-Work 9 rows rib instead of 13 rows
-Knit 12 sts before thumb instead of 11 sts
-Increase to 8 sts for thumb instead of 10 sts
-Knit 2 sts, work row 4 of chart, knit to thumb, place 8 thumb sts on waste yarn, cast on 2 sts, knit to end
-Work through row 14 of chart
-Purl 1 row
-Knit 1, k2tog, knit 2, k2tog to last 3 sts, knit 3
-Purl 1, p2tog, purl to last 3 sts, p2tog, p1
-Work top shaping per pattern
-Thumb: pick up and knit 4 sts and join in the round 12 sts), knit 2 rnds decreasing 2 sts each rnd (8 sts), work 5 more rnds, k2tog around

Measurements:

• Circumference: 6.5”
• Total Length: 6.5”
• Hand Length: 4.5”
• Thumb: 2” circumference, 1.5” long
