I made these cozies for my mother and my grandmother-in-law for Christmas. My mother gets me a box of tissues every year, so this seemed like the perfect gift for her.

The 3/8” grosgrain ribbon and the 7/8” buttons are both from Hobby Lobby and the yarn is left over from the Granny Square Afghan I crocheted in 2012.

Measurements before seaming: 5.5” x 6.5”

Each cozy weighs 14g/uses approx. 26 yards.

I did 16 sc instead of 18 for a 5.5” width. As a result I have 8 dc posts showing on the front instead of 9. I worked the number of rows specified in the pattern.

The pattern says gauge is not critical for this project, but I have two problems with that:

1. Since the cozy has to fit a pack of tissues, obviously gauge IS critical. If you crochet too loose or too tight, the cozy won’t fit…
2. The pattern says gauge isn’t critical and then it tells you to work x number of rows…If gauge information isn’t provided then the pattern should say “work until piece measures x inches” instead.

That being said, this was a fun project that worked up quickly.
