Notes

I didn’t have a knitted hat when I moved to Amsterdam (just my felted cloche that you can’t shove in a sleeve when you sit down in a restaurant!). I am pretty sure I will have an excess of yarn for my seaweed shawl, so I snagged some of the lovely hand painted alpaca yarn in order to make a nice cozy hat.

It turned out a little loose, so I’d probably cast on fewer stitches if I made it again. It was very quick to make and used less than a full skein of the yarn. I had a little trouble with stretched out stitches on the last few rounds, but overall it was a super easy project.

First finished in October, but frogged in March because it was just too big and stretched out even more. I restarted it to make the band smaller. This time I cast on 72 stitches, and for the increase row, I’m doing k1 m1 k1 m1 k2 m1 (so that it gets close to the same amount of slouchiness). Too small. Trying again at 80 cast on. Will increase with k1 m1 k2 m1, to match original with 132 stitches.
