Notes

This pattern is intense, but don’t be intimidated. The stitch combos are confusing at first but I recommend jumping right in and taking each combo one step at a time. Each stitch makes perfect sense after you’ve done it.

The way the stitch combos work means there’s no turning the project -- it’s entirely in the round. The combos wind up making that 4th row reeeally tall and then bringing it back down to normal stitches. That’s the only round that uses these stitch combos, too, so if they really give you enough trouble to want to modify the pattern, you only need to modify the 4th round (and maybe tweak the 5th to keep it square).

I don’t suggest tweaking it, though. The stitches are worked into other stitches in the same row which makes that whole wedge solid rather than gappy the way taller stitches tend to be.

I can’t wait to work on this pattern some more :)

June 28, 2013 - Wrote the stitch combos on individual index cards and I’m relying on the cards and the full-page diagram as that’s faster/easier for me than reading the pattern every time.

Figured out what I’m doing with the colors. The colors aren’t something I’d normally choose on my own, but it’s what my niece wanted. So bright. So very bright. The orange, purple, and green that close to each other is very “dollar store halloween” to me, but the blue kind of breaks it up.

June 22, 2013 - I blew up the diagram to full-page and colored the rounds the colors I’m crocheting them so I could refer to it more easily and quickly. This helped immensely.

The first square I made was terrible -- I missed some stitches and it was very lumpy. The next one was much better.

Still trying to figure out what I’m doing with the colors -- same color repeat or switch it up from flower to flower?
