Update 2/3/2015--This is my most-worn FO to date!
I’ve been eyeing this pattern for awhile, and decided to cast on :) after I bought the pattern, I realized it is charted only (gasp! That’s scary!) but then I realized I needed to try charts sooner or later, and I’m LOVING it.
3/1/2014--cast on. Pattern is very easy to follow, and it’s working up quickly!
3/24/14--binding off and weaving in ends! It’s great! I certainly took my time knitting this, it could easily be a quick project. I think I will love it even more after blocking.
A few construction notes:
- I knit 9.5 chart repeats (rather than the suggested 8 repeats) in order to use up more of my yarn.
- I knit row 1 once more (per pattern) and this next part is where I clarified with the designer (who was incredibly helpful!) :)
- for the scalloped edging, it specifies that you should pick up (but don’t knit) stitches, but this sets you up for a WS row.
- the pattern states the next row should be a RS, so you must BREAK THE YARN and REJOIN.
- Row 1 & Row 2: straight-forward
- Row 3: this is much easier than it would seem at first glance. I found it helpful to knit the first stitch, and then I could better visualize the correct YO in which to knit. Basically, you knit once into the YO directly below the kfbf (which looks like a grouping of 3 stitches). And then one regular k, then once into the YO below, then one regular, then once into the YO below, then one regular stitch, then once into the YO below. The result is 7 stitches seeming to originate from the one YO.
Thoughts on the FO:
I LOVE it. So wearable! It blocked very nicely (I don’t have wires, so I just wet blocked it. Wires would have opened up the edging pattern a little more, but I’m fine with it, as is).
