Notes

I was having a little trouble getting my knit row (row 1) to come out like it was supposed to, so I started searching YouTube tutorials. As it turns out all the tutorials for “horizontal herringbone stitch” produce a flatter design that has no detail between each of the stitches. For the design it seems was intended by this pattern (maybe just called “herringbone” and not horizontal), I used the following video, which shows the steps exactly as described in this pattern:

Craig Rosenfeld’s Herringbone Tutorial

I guess I was wrong when I said my yoda cap was the first Malabrigo project completed - actually, this one has been stuck on the needles for a while. Finally coming back to it, still in love with how this yarn feels. I really like how this cowl is turning out - and it knits quickly, too!

When I added the buttons and really “tried it on” for the first time, I realized how the neck is far too wide for my short neck. After looking at some other project pictures, I could see that some people were solving this by folding the cowl over itself (instead of trying to keep it from folding around the neck at all). So now it is sort of like a collar, but I like how it fits much better that way.
