Notes

I’ve been having lots of joint pain due to my rheumatoid arthritis and am pretty much exclusively wearing flip-flops in an effort to help manage that. I figure that by giving my toes tons of breathing space, I might actually decrease on the amount of pain in my feet. (Here’s hoping.)

I love the Flippant pattern but have found that the strap between the toes is not working as well for me. I used to wear tabi-socks when I took martial arts and knew that those would actually be better for what I needed -- a toe-less, tabi-style sock cuff for my flip-flops. So I took Flippant as my inspiration (gauge, # of stitches to cast on and # of rows for garter edge) and winged the rest.

I did this in plain stockinette because I needed to whip them up quickly. Next time I may try the lace pattern in Flippant.

I used an Estonian cast-on and Jenny’s stretch bind-off because I wanted to make sure these were stretchy and fit well. The Felici yarn was leftover scraps from the hat and socks I made for the kidlets. I purposely made it mismatching although I had enough yarn to try to get them to match.

I went through a bit of (physical) pain to make these but I am ridiculously pleased.
