FINISHED! I just tried it on and it’s gorgeous!! Just lovely! My husband says so as well.
The collar is 20cm, the button bands 4.25cm. I wasn’t sure if the collar would sit well but it does.
I’m happy with the buttons too. I looked everywhere… old and new, busy city shops and vintage collections, then found the right one’s at good old Spotlight. Cheap. I have four spare to put in my button collection, just in case.
I can’t recommend the Jaggerspun Heather 3/8 highly enough. It’s so beautiful and the colour is warm and rich. I’ve worn it once and been complimented a dozen times.
NOTE: I would use grafted underarms next time as it would give a little more. I’ve got chubby arms (sigh!). Alternativley, I’d increase a little toward the top of the sleeves and underarms and have a larger grafted area, or I could still knit a little gussett, and may just do that, to give me more ease.
I’m a Happy Little Vegemite!
Still March
I have finished knitting!! Whoo Hoo! I’m a bit scared to try it on and haven’t sewn in or added buttons yet but it’s ssssSO exciting!
I made the button bands wider and the neckband is as long as the sleeve and waist rib bands, which makes a collar. Tomorrow I’ll try it on and see if I need to adjust anything… like, maybe the collar needs some increases?? We’ll see. I had to share! Still March
I’ve nearly finished the bands! It’s a dependable pattern, even if I did take a minute to figure it out. Huzzah!
Just a couple of rows on the button band and then the collar. Yipee!
March 2011
Love the Rowan Scottish Tweed! The two colours look amazing together. I’m up to the short rows and feel very happy. Lovely when you decrease and find you have the right amount of stitches!!!
Feb 2011:
Half way through the colour work! Lovely. I had a bit of difficulty understanding the instructions concerning using the chart at the front edge, but with the help from some lovely Ravelry gals, have it sorted.
I love the colours. No pink. There is a very low contrast, but it will be evident when I go completely to the aqua. I want it to be subtle.
Jan 2011: Actually, I enjoyed the second sleeve. This is my first attenpt at DPN’s and I’ve found my heels.
Sometime in 2010:
I’m using the Aquamarine JaggerSpun as the main colour, going into this Rowan Scottish Tweed in a loveyly Aqua, with a touch, maybe, of pink?
We’ll see. (Edit: No Pink)
I’m into the sleeves (yuk!) and feel like I can cope fairly well with the DPN’s. I’ll go like fast and furious for a while with a lovely, soothing rythym, then lose the plot completely and forget how to hold them!? Is it early onset dementia?
