(P.S. I think this will be my new knitting bag, lined, with handles. It’s never that cold around here and I can’t bring myself to frog!)
I bought the book “Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys & Arans, Fishermen’s Sweaters from the British Isles” by Gladys Thompson. This jumper is on page 139.
Using Eunny’s terrific cable writing tutorial, I’ve managed to surprise myself, and wrote out the pattern. It’s great! In fact, I’ve gained a heap of confidence in cabling because of the turorial. THANKS EUNNY! You’re a marvel, again!
So, I’ve made a poncho. I will publish a pattern on my blog and here (for free of course, since it’s such a traditional set of designs and hardly my own). I want to re-do it because there are a few things that would look better done differently, and I want the pattern to reflect that. I’ll get a photo wearing it too, even though I hate photo’s of myself. Maybe I colud find a svelte young snippet for a photo shoot?
Oh, and for some reason the colour looks grey, but it’s closer to the green in the lower pics.
I highly reccommend the Jaggersoun Heather too. Luvverly wool! My cardigan has worn and washed so beautifully!
NOTE: If anyone knows of some free software for writing out patterns, I’d love a link!

P.S. The trouble is, I will never wear it. I made it to go to New York in wintertime and didn’t go… might convert it to a bag? Bit of a waste. I’m sick of unravelling stuff… but it’d make a better cardigan. More useful.
Don’t you hate that?
