Whoa!! These little squares are addicting to knit.
This came as a kit from my LYS with 20 skeins of hand-dyed fingering weight yarn.
Cast on as directed was tricky… so I improvised my own method. I used a C crochet hook & the Magic circle technique (in crochet) I pulled the yarn thru as if to single crochet, but left each loop on the hook. Once I had the 8 loops, I pulled the yarn end to tighten the magic loop & transferred the live stitches to my knitting needles. So much easier & very quick to do.
Each skein was enough to make 1 full square & the center of a second. So I purchased black hand-dyed & did the garter edge section of each second square in black.
This gave me 40 squares. To make a 6 square x 7 square blanket I needed 42 squares, so I purchased 1 additional color skein & used it to make 2 more squares (1 with the black edging).
Squares blocked to 8.5 inches
Squares were crochet together with the black yarn & a D hook. (I should have used a F hook to make it a bit looser).
Border: 4 rounds of single crochet using a F hook. I wish I could have made the boarder thicker but I ran out of black yarn & didn’t want to purchase additional skeins.
LOVE how it came out!
