Notes

Note to anyone making a smaller size like mine:
I weighed my yarn (start to finish) to the gram, so my mileage is pretty accurate. I recommend blocking aggressively to get a nice size.

I have about 100 yards less to work with than the pattern calls for, so I am going to follow in YarnandFloss’s
steps and plan to follow directions until I’m in the main part.
This yarn is so beautiful and wonderful feeling- I think it’s a good fit for the pattern, but this is also one time that I think a shawl pattern would be ideally complimented by a toothier yarn that shows patterning really well.

13g remaining of first hank after 5 repeats of main section. Moved to decrease section and used 14g for first 22 row repeat.
Points I considered after 5 repeats of main:
-consensus of the KAL is that this is quite a large shawl
-point at which you stop main section determines depth of the shawl, and imagining it stretched out a bit, would be wide enough for my tastes at that point

Decrease section: Rather than k3tog and then p3tog, I did k3tog, p2tog to maintain some length at that edge. I’m really glad I did this!

Pre-blocked size 34” x 33” x 55”
Blocked size: 42” x 40” x 68” (I used wires for the two straight edges and pinned the edge waves)

I’m so so happy with this shawl!!!!
