MC - Gun Metal
CC1 - Navy Zeal
CC2 - Curry
04.27.2013 - I started this today at Natural Stitches, and got through the first CC stripe. Veera’s done it again with this one! It’s a good thing I love garter, because I’ve got about 1,000 yards of it in front of me now!
Just found that on row 8, the pattern calls for you to K21, but for me it’s worked out that I actually need to K22 before the W&T. I’ve seen that I’m not the only knitter doing this, but it looks more like the picture. As for the first CC stripe, where I only K21, we’ll call it a design feature. I’ve come too far to go back now!
04.28.2013 - Two stripes done!
04.29.2013 - Just starting the fourth stripe…
04.30.2013 - Progress has been slow, as life has been busy. I should also mention that the pattern has been corrected, so I’ve been knitting row 8 just as the designer intended.
05.04.2013 - Still working on the sixth stripe…
05.08.2013 - Stripe six is done. I’m hoping to get a good chunk of knitting done on tomorrow’s road trip. To Mississippi. For 12+ hours.
05.13.2013 - Finished stripes seven and eight on the road trip, only two left!
05.16.2013 - I’m working on stripe ten, and I’m hoping to finish the border this weekend. We’ll see how it goes…
05.17.2013 - I’m very nearly done! All I need to do is bind off, weave and block. However, the bind off may have to wait. 546 stitches on a Friday night will not be happening. I mean, these margaritas aren’t going to drink themselves.
05.19.2013 - I finished the bind off this morning (JSSBO), and now I’m working on weaving in the 42 ends. Once I get this baby soaked and pinned, I’m going to do a jig! Oh yes, and a conservative guess at the unblocked wingspan is around 7 feet (YES!) and it’s about 13 inches deep. When I block this, I’m going to try to get a little more out of the wingspan, but not add any depth. More pics to come!
Okay, blocking measurements… It’s 13” deep and about 9 feet on the inner edge. I love it!
