Opted to do 1x1 ribbing in place of garter stitches. I was confused as to how the eight button band stitches that get left on waste yarn will get picked up later so I ripped out what I started and CO 16 stitches less and will do the ribbed button bands starting from the very bottom.
A little worried about the sizing. My brother is extremely tall but very slim/narrow---except in the shoulders. So I might have to bump it up in size when I get up to the top. (Really wish the pattern included a shoulder measurement---would have eased my worries and helped me plan better.)
I might have set too big of a goal to aim to have this finished by November 30th. Although it knits up fairly quick, being such bulky yarn done on smaller needles it’s very rough on the hands. (Might also be the fact that it’s 80% acrylic---I think higher wool content yarn has more stretch and knits up easier.) But my brother is excited about it and that’s inspiring me to push onward.

Making great progress. The fabric is dense and hopefully not too stiff.

I’ve done about six more rows since my last update. My wrist had enough and this was/is definitely the culprit. Worried I might not be able to finish it.

Sadly, this is not going to work. There is no way my wrist can handle finishing this.
