A birthday throw for my son-in-law.

2/6/17 So, one of my twin grandsons, Jacob, has commandeered all of the knitted blankets I’ve given his parents and drags them about the house with him and even demands to take them out in the car on trips.
3/21/15 I visited my daughter the other day and saw her basket where she keeps the handmade blankets I’ve given her. Knowing that she uses them all the time and seeing that they still had the ‘blocked’ look as when I originally gave them to her I offered to take, wash and re-block them. She gave me a sheepish look and said, “I’ve just been throwing them in the washer and dryer all this time…..”. Lol. For this sort of thing, this yarn is sooooooo great :0)
10/16 Finished.
10/14 Knitting complete. Hopefully I will have all ends woven in and have it blocking by sometime tomorrow.
10/13 The finish line is in sight! Working through an i-cord bind-off which is really too much fun :0)
10/9 Picking up stitches for the border - over 900 of them…
10/7 10th skein used up, a few more inches and I’ll begin the border
10/3 44” - 10” to go before beginning the border 7 skeins so far.
9/9 approx. 30”
9/2 3 skeins/18”
8/31 Second skein finished @ 12”.
8/29 One skein down and approx. 6” completed.

Mods:
Cast-on 201 sts. to make up for the smaller needle, omitted the 10 edge stitches and the initial border as I intend to do the entire border at the end. This yarn always knits up wide and short, so I’ve added an additional repeat of rows 14 & 15 on either side of the cable. 6 full pattern repeats + additional 14 rows of pattern. The ends don’t mirror eachother but I did not want it longer or shorter.

Border: (in the round)
~ Picked up 910 stitches around (top/bottom 199, sides 256 each, 1 at each corner) - a 60” cord was just long enough with all of the stitches scrunched on it.
~ 3 x 3 mock rib (row 1: K3,P3 - row 2: knit) for about 22 rows with a 1 stitch cable in the middle (cable1 front, K2, K1 from cable needle).
~ Increase on either side of each corner on knit rows, starting by picking up 1 stitch in each corner.
~ i-cord bind off.
