I believe that this ‘original’ pattern is more complicated than the new version as it has an additional 2 cables on each side. The side cables are more complicated to knit than the main center cable, in my opinion.
Chart C for the side and sleeve cables contradicts the key, on row 5 and 7, so I had to use artistic license to decide which directions to follow. Might be an uncorrected typo.

12-31-16: finished! Almost made it for Christmas.
12-28-16: began the collar.
12-23-16: in the process of sewing together.
12-20-16: began the shoulder straps.
12-16-16: finished the sleeves except for the shoulder straps.
10-23-16: cast on for the sleeves since the weather is definitely cooler.
4-6-16: finished the front; and hibernating until cooler weather.
1-13-16: began the front
1-4-16: back complete
12-14-15: making slow progress on the back.
10-11-15: finished the first repeat.
7-11-15: finished the ribbing; began the body pattern.
2-11-15: cast on and began the ribbing.
1-11-15: began and finished my swatch today. Ready to go.
