Notes

This is such a clever design with endless possibilities for colour combinations. Trust the pattern - it turns out just like the pictures in the end. This is a comprehensive, helpful and extremely well-written pattern.

I’m using various stash yarns including wool, BFL wool/nylon, MCN and merino. The Quince is not superwash. We will see how these play together, and I will block carefully!
- the blue bled quite a bit, so I kept changing the water and watched the grey for signs of picking up the blue dye.

Notes:

  • 16 fewer stitches for the body. Enough ease without, so I stopped increasing. Swatching sometimes lies. 10 stitches less for the sleeves.
  • added the extra stripe at the top before the large stripes, for a bit more length.
  • the green stripe took about 17 grams of yarn.
  • dark gray stripe took about 11 grams of yarn.
  • ripped out last small body stripe as it was too wide with it (probably something to do with my fewer number of stitches?) The fit is perfect.

Neckband

  • picked up 162 stitches
  • 4 rows rib with Cobble CC
  • I wanted a 3-colour neckband so I then knit 1 row with MC (Frost) to avoid coloured purl bumps then 3 rows rib
  • finished off with 2 rows knit with main CC Bluebell.

Sleeves

  • wanted short sleeves to wear NOW.
  • picked up 4 extra for gap and decreased in first 2 rows - 79 st.
  • did 2 rows to finish the blue stripe, a gray stripe, blue ribbing and gray trim.

I was originally thinking of the Baah yarn in Singing the Blues (in bottom pic) for a contrast stripe, but after knitting with the purple and grey, it just didn’t work. Swapped it for the poison green of the Miss Babs Ghoulish. Ended up with 4 inches of yarn left after the wide stripe - whew!
