I love the sweater I knit for my mom here and intended to knit one for me, with this special colourway I heard about on the Yarniac’s podcast. I bought 3 skeins and my dear friend Maggy gave me another.
Notes:
- 8 rows garter at the hem with smaller needle
- I am making a smaller size than I normally make, as I want the fronts to meet, not overlap so much, so that means I am also making fewer decreases. First decrease after 3 pattern repeats. 5 decreases total - 104 stitches at the back.
- 18 pattern repeats to make it shorter than the pattern. this looks small but blocks out quite a bit. 17 inches side seam unblocked. 18.25 blocked.
- 2 skeins and start of third to end of body.
Yarn:
This is a custom colour for this yarn store. I just can’t photograph this yarn to show the actual colour, a vibrant deep turquoise. I’ve tried inside and out, sun and no sun.
- bled a lot during soaking, so I would wash first if I was using this in colourwork.
Sleeves - 53 grams for each sleeve. After 5 rows past the last decrease, switch to 3.0 mm needles, decreasing 2 on first row, do 2 full repeats of lace, then 6 rows garter, starting with knit row, then BO.
Pattern Gauge: 23 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch on 3.5 mm needles.
Yarn - 44 grams left of 5th skein, but some was used for link text so my best guess is approx. a bit more than 3 skeins. Should have made this bigger and used all 4th skein.
