Notes

Need to make the sleeves longer.

Fell in love with this white one here. As I can’t find truly white wool, the hemp-blend it is!

I didn’t use the cuff detail from the long sleeves, nor the cropped style, nor the raw, wide neck. I took Rililie’s pattern and adapted it to suit my preferences. I would like to knit one in wool and make the long sleeves, perhaps with a wider neck than I made this time, although not as wide as the pattern, and definitely not cropped.

MC is Bleached (white)
CC1 - dark purple is Egyptian Blue
CC2 - light purple is Light Denim
CC3 - bright blue is Kingfisher Blue
CC4 - faded blue is Hazy Blue
CC5 - bright green is Bright Lime Green
CC6 - olive green is Olive Drab

Use 3.25 mm needle - all the other Hempathy projects are using that.

  • following advice from others, I cast on only 61 st for the yoke (1/8/43/8/1) vs. 69 stitches.
  • I cast on 33 stitches for the front, to make it the same as the back.
  • I compensated by working more “all raglan increases” rows to reach 314 st (for size M) before doing the body/sleeves separation.
  • 56 for each sleeve, and 101 for front/back at separation
  • I had to separate after 4 rows of CC3, as it was already long enough, and didn’t want 2 more rows.
  • cast on 8 stitches each side, and placed markers so 108 for back and 110 for front. This ended up with a fair bit of ease.
  • added inches to the length.
  • forgot to change to a smaller needle for the seed stitch hem, and it was too large and wavy. Ripped it out, added some more length in the regular pattern and bound off.
  • short sleeves. I may go back and make 3/4 length.
  • picked up fewer stnitches for neck, 4 rows seed stitch then bind off to make less wide.

Start sleeve with MC, then 1 more row of CC3. Pick up 12 - 68 stitches. Decrease 2 first row - 66 stitches. After CC5 green stripe, 2 rows white then 4 rows seed stitch and bind off. No needle change.

Notes from other projects, for when I do long sleeves:

Do the left cuff first. Really.

Momo: I love the cute V detail on the cuffs. I highly suggest using either 3-4 circular needle or 5 dpns to work it. I’ve included a photo of how to place needles. The important thing is not to stress the overwrap with one needle. Use two needles for half the sleeves (where the V is at) and use another needle for other half of sleeves. If you have one more needle, use that (4th needle) to work the sleeves. The cuffs are not hard to do, as long as you are not using one needle to work it (ask me how I know
