Notes

Love! Love! Love! Super-cute and the fit at the shoulders is great.
the picture of the back and side with the stitch marker show where I had marked a dropped stitch I have since fixed. I wanted to grab my photographer when I had the chance, which is why we have the marker-shots!

Did 3 inches in December 2013 then neglected this until November 2015. I was stressing over matching the colours on the back and front yokes and then realized I could take the Zauberball apart and cut it! I ended up with 1/2 a Zauberball leftover with at least 1/3 ball still connected and not in pieces.

Notes:

  • carried the CC yarn up the side unless I had to cut it for a new colour
  • 15 stitches for shoulders to start, instead of 7, then I followed the increases for M but did fewer every-second-row increases to end up with the same number of stitches
  • considered waist shaping, but decided against it
  • had 224 stitches at underarm, 248 after the 4 increases.
  • followed Gypsythedog’s pocket instructions (below) but started 15 stitches from front after the 9th stripe
  • added 2 more stripes and 8 additional MC rows at the bottom before the ribbing, to end at 14 inches unblocked, before the ribbing
  • for the buttonband, for the first row of MC after the CC stripe, I just knit all stitches, so the purl bumps wouldn’t show
  • I may have used a 3.0 mm needle for the buttonband and a 2.5 mm needle for the cuffs, not due to planning, but due to having a long 3.0 mm needle.
  • 8 regular 3-stitch buttonholes, using this technique here
  • pick up 86 for size L sleeves (in hindsight, should have done M from the beginning) and decrease to M. Decrease at row 5, then row 10 (80) then every 10th row. After 62 stitches and 5 rows, switch to MC and continue decreasing every 10th row. At the last stripe, decrease 1 to end at 55 stitches.
  • 20 rows of MC then 22 of ribbing per pattern and icord.

Thanks to Betty (3catos) for the gift of the pattern!

Gauge
24.5 sts and 34 rows = 4” in Stocking stitch on 3.5mm needles
I am using light fingering instead of fingering, so went down a needle size.

Pockets (thanks to Gypsythedog) - amended for my actual numbers
Row 3: k15, (put next 24 sts on scrap yarn, turn work and cable cast on p/w 27 sts), k across to 39 sts before end, (repeat), k15
Row 4: (p to 1 st bf cable cast on, p2tog, (k1, p1) 12x, k1, ssp), p across to next pocket (repeat)
Rows 5-7: work in pattern, 1x1 rib on pocket top
Row8: p all sts, p2tog in middle of pocket ribbing section
Continued per patt until just bf bottom hem ribbing, 36 more rows
Knit the pocket linings from the held stitches to same length (42 rows), then knit the lining and body sts together on the next row. Began hem ribbing on WS.

Leftovers: 88 grams black MC, 26 grams green sleeves, and 56 grams Zauberball
