Update: My first soak and blocking left a couple of spots where both the blue and the green stripes bled on to the white - see the sideways picture for some spots on the sleeve. A second soak including 4 colour-catcher sheets resulted in a pale blue stripe in place of the white. Apparently, the second time the yarn bled A LOT! The white seems to be evenly discoloured, so disaster is averted.
Alternate blue, green and natural (C1) stripes. Blue (C2) for hem and placket.
Notes:
- my yarn is thicker, so will knit M1 to get M2.
- because I have blue as C2, I bound off the back neck stitches with C2 instead of C1 after the first shoulder, so I can pick up for the neckband with blue, without having a white stripe. In hindsight, I could have just started with blue as C1 and white as C2, then changed to green as the alternative C1.
- because I am a crazy person, I knit the “faux seam” stitch on the first row of a colour change so the purl bump wouldn’t show the change.
- 11 CC stripes to bottom of placket (should have joined during the blue stripe, not the MC below -oops - as my placket is blue, not MC).
- 17 CC stripes then next CC is oxblood. 8 rows instead of 6 as there is already a lot going on with the 3 colours and I wanted the oxblood to pop out.
- buttonband on the left and buttonhole band on the right.
- did 2-stitch buttonholes as my buttons are large.
- 6 oxblood rounds for sleeves instead of 4.
46 g oxblood to start, 22 g left
2 g antler left (may have had slightly less than 2 full skeins).
8 g laurel left
couple of yards of lapis left - you can see the small balls of the 3 primary colours that I had left in the picture.
Project Gauge:
20 sts x 27 rows = 4 x 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch on 4 mm needle.
236 grams Antler to start - 113 and 123 grams.
