Notes

I wanted to make the flower cardi, but my granddaughter picked the leaf one instead. The flower is DK, the leaf is fingering, on a size 3.25 mm needle. I bought DK, so am adapting the pattern and knitting a smaller size, with 3.75 mm needles.

Mods:

  • longer in body and sleeves
  • added pockets
  • eyelet row at the bottom before the hem

The size 10 (30.8 inches) has 207 stitches on the body at a gauge on 26 st/4 inches. With 22 st/4 inches, I need approx. 175 stitches for the body. Size 4 has 167 and size 6 has 183, so doing that.

Anneke: 12 inches side seam. 15 inches arm.

The pattern is alarmingly bumpy in the center. I looked at other projects and it is supposed to block out, but there is still some bumpiness. That’s the reason for only 4 stars.

I like the eyelet row this knitter did before the garter hem here

Notes:

  • Used 3.5 mm needles as the smaller size, because I forgot I intended to use 3.25 mm.

  • didn’t do long-tail cast-on, so knit an extra row to get the RS as the actual RS. Row 33 pattern was sleeve split row 11 Row 11 do first side increase then every 12th after. Buttonhole last on row 7 after sleeve split.

  • Anneke chose the natural wood buttons vs. some plastic that were a good match because of the leaf motif - nature and all that! There is a fox button and a porcupine button on the pockets for decoration.
