Marilou is my sister-in-law. She is 50 years old this year, has Down Syndrome and still believes in Santa. Her old name stocking has disappeared, so her sisters asked me to knit her one. She insists on Maria Louisa (which is her real name) so Maria Louisa on the stocking it is! I think she will like the Santa on her stocking.

Tweaking my standard stocking pattern to use 4.5 mm needles.

Cast on 62 - this way the seam takes 2 stitches and there is a nice k2p2 rib all around.

• kept 6 extra stitches throughout foot
• final measurements (unblocked) foot: 10 inches, length: 18.5 inches (an extra 1.5 inches is due to the second name line), width: 6 inches at top.
