This sweater is a sweet blend of 3 stitch patterns and reverse stockinette - perfect for tonal yarns.
This special colourway was dyed by Karida of NFC with proceeds going toward helping people in Baltimore after the Freddie Gray-related riots. Sandtown-Winchester was Freddie’s neighborhood. It reminds me of my favorite stone - Tanzanite.
Notes on the Pattern:
- with 2 charts (the Mock Cable is easy to memorize and you won’t need a chart after the first few rows) with different lengths, you end up on different rows for most of the pattern. I had 2 printed charts where I just marked off every 2nd row, so keep my place, and later, 2 pages on my Knit Companion - one for each chart where I moved the marker up. Totally do-able.
- end row 30 chart before armhole shaping. At end of armhole (row 40), ready to start with row 7 Pharoh’s Crown, row 15 Square Knot and non-twisted row for Mock Cable.
- increase for fronts quicker, as my row gauge is off. Added an additional increase on rows 15, 23, 31 and 39 of front charts, so ended up with all 11 stitches prior to armhole.
- no Pharoah’s Crown chart for the fronts - just Square Knot and Mock Cable.
- did not drop down needle size for bottom hem. Used smaller needle for buttonband and cuff.
- 8 buttons
- about 100 grams per sleeve.
- note - remember to switch needle size when doing sleeve cap!
- turned sleeve and worked inside out (knit every round) until rib, then turned again and worked rib from the RS.
88 grams left from skein 3.
Sleeve - decrease every 8th round until 38, then decrease on round 5. Switch to smaller needle. 9 rounds rib then b/o.
