Notes

Toor toor is wolof (language spoken in Senegal and part of West-Africa) for flower. Of all the motifs included with the pattern, I liked the flower the best.

This is super-comfortable and light. Only 1 FO picture so far, as the bright sun was not cooperating.

Skein 1 made it to row 29.

  • added short rows to the bust - 4 extra rows, then after 6 rounds, 4 more rows. Just w&t at the sides.
  • ended up with 65 sleeve stitches, 102 for front and 104 for back (picked up 4) after the sleeve split.
  • as much as I LOVE pockets, and add them to everything, I think I will skip them here, with the hemp yarn, as they will show through.
  • sleeves - 65 on hold, picked up 6, 2 stripes then 4 rows rib. Decreased twice at the beginning.

Different method for intarsia in the round than the pattern (I had included a link but it isn’t working, and I can’t remember which method I chose).

2 choices - the Wrap & Turn method, and the YO method:

  1. Knit your RS row as normal to the end of the round.

  2. Wrap and turn the first stitch of the round.

  3. Knit a WS row to the wrapped stitch.

  4. Pick up the wrap and knit it with the stitch.

  5. Wrap and turn the last stitch of the round.

  6. YO at the beginning of my first RS intarsia row, then knit as normal to the last stitch.

  7. SSK the last stitch with the YO from the beginning of the round.

  8. Turn, YO, then knit the WS row to the last stitch.

  9. P2tog the last stitch with the YO from the beginning of the round.

You can see from the picture of the back that I have a number of ends to weave in, but that is easy, and helps tighten up the edges, vs. having the MC yarn strung across the back. In fact, with this particular yarn, I would have preferred no stranding at all (there are a couple of spots where there is a bit of stranding - top of the flower between the petals, for example), as the reverse yarn tends to show through.

Yarn Debate: - either use Dandelion and 3.0 needle or hemp and go larger.
If I use Hempathy, I would prefer to use 3.5 mm needle, or 3.25, not the 3.0 the pattern calls for. M1 is too small, knit M2, unless use larger needle. No give in the Hempathy, and drape at 3.5 for sure.
- my gauge using Hempathy is 22 st. to 4 inches.
