It’s finished and I love it. Bigger than a 3mos but smaller than a 6mos size w my using a bigger gauge yarn, but it will fit her for a cpl months, so that’s all good. It is such an easy and quick pattern I know I could whip one up in just a couple evenings weaving in ends, sewing on buttons and all. Will be making more of these shortly for another baby in the family due in January. Good to know it can be made with bits of stash yarns for some of the accent colors.
I have bits and bobs of tosh vintage which is a worsted weight yarn. I like some of the colors i have for a baby sweater, so I’m giving it a try even tho it’s heavier than the yarn weight required. Im using the 3 mos size instruction and hoping to get a 6-9 mos finished project. So far so good.
I’m using an H hook, the Vintage is a lighter worsted and it is giving me a nice feel for the cardi…
Great pattern, simple stitches, well written and easy to follow.
Stitch definition with this yarn is wonderful. As. Always.
I’m going to have to make short sleeves, def not enough of the pretty grenadine color for long sleeves. But I think it’s sweet looking. She can wear it as a warm vest instead of a sweater.
Hoping to have enough of the astrid grey to trim out the yoke and collar and make a simple button placket… I have no buttons in stash to match it seems, so I need to make a run to the store. (Ends up I did have some buttons that worked out Yay!)
Notes:
For the short sleeves I stopped pattern at round 4. I also began on the right side of sweater for the start of the sleeve so I ended with the right ride facing out on round 4.
Sc around just the yoke of sweater (3 sc in corner edges). Did a 5ch picot to make a simple button loop. Buttons are 3/4” diameter.
