Notes

What a great shawl. Easy stitches make into a beautiful project. Pattern repeats easily memorized. Fun opportunities to play with color, which is my favorite thing!

For my baby sister Rachel.

Swatched with D and F. Both swatches have qualities. (Where any of my E hooks are…I do not know.)

I’m going with the D.

I so love working on this shawl. The colors are working out well. The yarns have been yummy feeling, and the drape fabulous. I was worried about the skiens of Lornas being so different from each other, that hand dyed thing ya know, but once I added the other colors they started playing together better.

This pattern FLIES and has truly just been falling off my hook.

Row 16 border is dc instead of hdc. I just wanted a little less symmetry in that border band of color.

Row 21 border is hdc cuz I wanted a bigger pop of color there.

PIA. Picot. City. Ugh.

Even tho I hate making picots I AM loving how my first side and center point looks. Onto the second side of the shawl and I have to say…they look weird. I’m doing something wrong maybe… :/

06-19-2018

Tore out and reread the stitches for the second side of the picots several times. For whatever reason, I cannot make them look right. The pattern looks flattened with an occasional picot…I’m not getting a ‘wave’ effect….or height regression. What I’m getting is a …nipple? I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but I’m not happy with how it looks.

So.
I’m going with…
(US terms here)
dc with a picot
dc
hdc
sl followed by a ch

And repeating the above. It’s ever so slightly heavier looking, but there’s a wave.
