05-06-12 As is normal for me, I had to go down a needle size. I am (patiently) knitting the ribbing with US size 1 needles.
Three modifications so far: (1) Knitting in the round. (2) No shaping within the ribbing. (I cast on 123x2 which is the pattern’s stitch count at the end of ribbing shaping for size M.) (3) Less length to the ribbing -- I settled on 2.5 inches.
Body Modifications: After ribbing, I worked increase rounds on 5th, and following 15th, 15th, 15th, 15th, 15th, 10th and 5th rounds, and then 4 times each alternate row. This brought me to armhole with pattern’s stitch count of 147X2 for size M. The side of my sweater is 14” to armhole.
Sleeve Modifications: After dividing for armholes, instead of working straight, I increased 1 stitch at each armhole edge every 4th row, 9 times. This created a more cap-like sleeve which I like much better than the pattern’s straight up armhole. These extra stitches could not affect the neckline yoke shaping -- that would have been a problem. Instead I increased the numbers in the shoulder bind off.
02-24-13 I am so happy to have reached the colorwork yoke. My favorite kind of knitting! Unfortunately other knitting commitments will keep me from it for a little while…
04-20-13 Finished!
