Got my Lacis Bobbin Lace Kit today, which is a very inexpensive product to try out bobbin lace with.
It’s plenty good enough for me to learn on, and see if I want to do more with bobbin lace.

The biggest surprise was the ‘stand’ that the foam board fits on, had no directions, nor picture to understand what to fold, and which way. I suppose I finally got it right, but wow that was lazy of them. They could at least put a pic and explanation on their site, incase someone (like me) went there hoping for help with it. I made a collage of the things I found, for newbies who wonder: Contents of Lacis Bobbin Lace Kit = 24 Bobbins, 1/2” Dense Foam Board, 40 small head pins, 2 Broder Special DMC 16 thread flosses, foldable stand with no instructions. I’ve assembled mine and put the pic to try to help others with their stands, since there are no pics nor directions. I have not used it yet, just opened and assembled.

So, I got my kit today and practiced a simple zig zag that does not actually produce a finished item. It is more for learning how to make the stitches and practice tension. I was very happy with how simple it was and after zig zagging down, I turned it upside down, and zig zagged down again! Naturally, the diamonds made from that did not stay in place, because the sides were made separately, and so became a circle when pins were removed. I knew that going in, just wanted to practice more. In spite of all the nay-saying, I had a fine time practicing with it - no problems.
